The data in the weekly bulletin of the State Commission for Commodity Exchanges and Markets (DKSBT) show a drop in the prices of most basic foodstuffs, fruits and vegetables on the stock exchanges in the country this week, reports BTA.

The market price index (MPI), which reflects the movement of wholesale food prices in our country, decreased by 0.66 percent to 2,290 points during the week. Last week, the ITC was at the level of 2,305 points, according to the data in the weekly bulletin of the State Commission on Commodity Exchanges and Markets (DKSBT).

The level of ITC at the beginning of last year was 2,316 points, and in the first third of March it reached its spring maximum of 2,480 points. The base level of the ITC – 1,000 points – is from 2005.

Imported cucumbers became cheaper by 8.9 percent to BGN 3.08 per kilogram, and tomatoes (import) by 8.2 percent to BGN 3.25 per kilogram. The price of potatoes jumped by 0.8 percent and they are traded at BGN 1.30 per kilogram.

Carrots rose in price by 2.4 percent to BGN 1.28 per kilogram, and ripe onions (import) – by 3.9 percent to BGN 1.60 per kilogram. The price of cabbage remains unchanged and it is traded at BGN 1.15 per kilogram, while that of red peppers (import) jumps by 8.9 percent to BGN 4.15 per kilogram.

The price of imported apples is higher by 4.4 percent and they are traded at BGN 1.88 per kilogram. Lemons became cheaper by 7.3 percent to BGN 2.03 per kilogram, and bananas rose in price by 0.4 percent to BGN 2.83 per kilogram. The price of tangerines jumped by 0.5 percent to BGN 2.22 per kilogram, and oranges by 8.1 percent to BGN 2.13/kg.

The price of cow’s cheese fell by 0.8 percent to BGN 10.98 per kilogram, and of “Vitosha” cheese – by 0.2 percent to BGN 16.67 per kilogram.

Yogurt (3 and over 3 percent fat content) became cheaper by 0.9 percent and was bought at BGN 1.16 for a 400 g bucket, while fresh milk (3 percent fat content) saw the same drop and its price became BGN 2. BGN 24 per liter.

The price of chicken meat drops by 0.3 percent and is available at BGN 6.20 per kilogram, and eggs (size M) by 2.6 percent and are sold at BGN 0.37 per piece wholesale at the end of the week.

The price of rice fell drastically – by 61.7 percent and was traded at BGN 1.27 per kilogram, while lentils jumped by 0.2 percent and was BGN 4.26 per kilogram. Ripe beans rose in price by 1.4 percent to BGN 4.23 per kilogram.

Sugar became cheaper by 1.4 percent and traded at BGN 2.16 per kilogram, and oil by 1.5 percent to BGN 2.65 per liter. Type 500 flour fell by 2.4 percent to BGN 1.22 per kilogram, and cow butter (125 gram package) rose in price by 1.9 percent to BGN 2.69 per unit.
