Grigor Dimitrov is aware that the price of success is high, but he is ready to pay it.
After the strong start of the season, the final of the “Masters 1000” in Miami and the return to the top 10 of the world rankings, the best Bulgarian tennis player in history started the season on red courts without prior preparation.
“Sometimes you have to compromise with something at the expense of something else. I am very proud of what I have achieved. Come to think of it, my performance in Miami was great and it would have been even better if I had gone on a 5 day vacation in Italy after coming home. Instead, I came back and in less than 24 hours I had to be on the court again. To be honest, a little chaos occurs in your head, because you ask yourself the question “What am I doing in this place?”. You’ve done something really, really big and suddenly you don’t even have time to really be happy. But it’s a nice problem because I really love my job. I just need to find a way to recover as quickly as possible and how to use the situation to my advantage. Before, I always had time to prepare for the red courts. It’s the first time I’ve had to change flooring so quickly. I tried to remember if anything like this had happened to me before, but it hasn’t. It won’t be easy, but I’ll take things as they are. These wins are proof of how consistent I have been in recent months. I can’t help but be proud of the way I managed to win matches with such a game and with such energy”, shared Dimitrov.
