An increase which will not delight many motorists. As is often the case during the new year, the price of the registration document will increase in several regions.

Île-de-France is one of the regions concerned, with the tax horse rate which will drastically increase from 46.15 euros to 54.95 euros, reports The echoes. An increase of 19% which will make Île-de-France one of the regions where horses are the most expensive, just behind Brittany and its 55 euros.

“Despite significant savings which will still be made this year, the Île-de-France region needs to compensate for its loss of resources with additional revenue to finance its obligatory expenditure”, indicated last week the community chaired by the LR Valérie Pécresse during the presentation of its 2024 budget. “This increase in revenue will be dedicated to improving transport, including the road plan,” specifies the report.

The increase also aims to encourage Ile-de-France residents to move “towards clean vehicles”, indicates to our colleagues the first vice-president in charge of finance Jean-Didier Berger, vehicles running exclusively on electricity, hydrogen or both being completely exempt from regional tax throughout France.

More than 30% increase in Normandy

Normandy will also increase the price of its tax horse from 35 to 46 euros, an increase of 31%. The region, for its part, justifies this decision by maintaining its investments in transport, particularly in rail. The president of the region Hervé Morin does not fail to point out that the initial price of 35 euros was “historically low”.

If nothing is yet certain, the Centre-Val de Loire region also plans to increase the price of the tax horse, the price of which has remained unchanged since 2017. Currently 49.80 euros, the increase would be of the order of 10 .4% to reach 55 euros, as in Brittany.

In 2023, several regions had increased their prices. Pays de la Loire and Occitanie 3 euros, New Aquitaine and Brittany 4 euros, or Hauts-de-France 1.50 euros.

The regional tax on registration certificates represents the third tax revenue of the regions behind VAT and the internal consumption tax on energy products (TICPE).
