Price increases are already being observed in Easter items ahead of Easter, with the traditional bun and chocolate eggs expected to be particularly “hot”.
Estimates are already talking about increases in the prices of lamb meat by up to 3 euros per kilo, according to Alpha’s report, which records increased prices for sweet dishes as well.
In particular, the price of buns in neighborhood pastry shops, from 12 per kilo last year, is expected to exceed 13 per kilo this year.
The price of a 200 gram chocolate egg, which last year started at 8 euros, is estimated to reach 10 euros this year.
“Ahead of Easter, it is expected that the simple bun will be more expensive by 10-15% and the Easter chocolate eggs will be more expensive by about 30%”, estimates the president of the Institute of Consumers (INKA), Giorgos Lehouritis.
As he says, “the overall price increase in the Easter basket will be more than 10% compared to last year.”
The “Easter Basket” is Coming
Consumers say they’re also looking forward to “Easter Basket,” which will… premiere on April 24.
As it is known, it will include:
Lamb
Kid
Greek sweet bread
Chocolate eggs
Information from the Ministry of Development, however, also speaks of considerations for the above products.
