The prices of some basic foodstuffs, fruits and vegetables on the stock exchanges in the country remained almost unchanged during the week, reports the State Commission for Commodity Exchanges and Markets (DKSBT) in its weekly bulletin.

The market price index (CPI), which reflects the movement of wholesale food prices in our country, fell by 0.05 percent to 2,032 points during the week. Last week the ITC was at the level of 2,033 points. The base level of the ITC – 1,000 points – is from 2005.

Cucumbers are becoming more expensive, with imported ones increasing by 12.7 percent to BGN 2.67 per kilogram, and greenhouse cucumbers by 5 percent to BGN 2.91 per kilogram. The price of greenhouse tomatoes is also higher – by 11.7 percent to BGN 2.58 per kilogram, while that of green pepper falls by 13.5 percent and it is traded at BGN 2.05 per kilogram.

Potatoes rose in price by 2.7 percent to BGN 1.05 per kilogram. The price of carrots is down by 1 percent to BGN 1.18 per kilogram, and that of ripe onions – by 3.1 percent to BGN 1.14 per kilogram. Cabbage saw an increase of 14.4 percent to BGN 0.92 per kilogram.

The price of lemons jumped by 4.2 percent to BGN 3.10 per kilogram, and bananas fell by 0.7 percent to BGN 2.69 per kilogram. Peaches became cheaper by 3.3 percent to BGN 2.35 per kilogram, while apricots rose in price by 5.6 percent to BGN 3.03 per kilogram. The price of watermelons fell by 13.4 percent to BGN 0.66 per kilogram.

Cow cheese became cheaper by 0.1 percent to BGN 10.88 per kilogram, and “Vitosha” cheese – by 0.4 percent to BGN 17.05 per kilogram.

The price of yogurt (3 and over 3 percent fat content) increased by 3.4 percent and it is bought at BGN 1.23 for a bucket of 400 grams, and that of fresh milk (3 percent fat content) – by 1. 2 percent to BGN 2.27 per liter.

Chicken meat became cheaper by 2.8 percent and is available at BGN 6.23 per kilogram, while eggs (size M) rose in price by 2.8 percent to BGN 0.29 per piece wholesale.

The price of rice jumped by 1 percent to BGN 3.34 per kilogram, and that of lentils by 0.8 percent to BGN 4.40 per kilogram. Ripe beans rose in price by 2.9 percent to BGN 4.35 per kilogram.

The price of sugar fell by 0.5 percent and was traded at BGN 2.01 per kilogram, while oil rose by 2.6 percent to BGN 2.79 per liter. The price of type 500 flour rose by 4.3 percent to BGN 1.31 per kilogram, and that of cow butter (125 gram package) by 1.9 percent to BGN 2.67 per unit.
