Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is coming to the press conference for the first time after forming the government for the fourth consecutive time after winning the 12th parliamentary elections. He will hold this press conference regarding the Prime Minister’s participation in the Munich Security Conference in Germany.

The press conference will be held at Ganabhaban at 10 am on Friday. The matter has been confirmed from the press wing of the Prime Minister’s Office.

Sheikh Hasina went to Germany last Thursday to participate in the Munich Security Conference and returned on Monday morning. This was his first official visit after the formation of the new government. During her stay there, Sheikh Hasina attended the opening ceremony of the Munich Security Conference. He also met with several world leaders.

The Prime Minister held bilateral meetings with German Chancellor Olaf Scholtz, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky, Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Qatari Prime Minister Mohammad Bin Abdul Rahman Al-Thani and Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen.

In bilateral talks with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky and Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Sheikh Hasina called for an end to war, particularly the Russia-Ukraine war and attacks on Gaza.

Indian Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar and former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, present Minister for Foreign Affairs, Commonwealth and Development Lord Cameron and German Federal Minister for Economic Cooperation and Development Swenja Schulze also met Sheikh Hasina.

In a meeting with the Indian Foreign Minister, the Prime Minister emphasized the use of Bangladeshi and Indian currencies, Taka and Rupee, for doing business.

Women Political Leaders (WPL) President Silvana Koch-Mehrin, Senior Managing Director, Development Policy and Partnerships Axel van Tortsenberg, World Health Organization (WHO) Director General Pedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Matter Global Affairs President and former UK Deputy Prime Minister Dr. Sir Nick Clegg also met the Prime Minister separately.

Sheikh Hasina addressed a panel discussion titled ‘From Pocket to Planet: Scaling up Climate Finance’ at the Munich Security Conference and raised six proposals. He called on world leaders to waive climate finance for affected countries and end the arms race and put that money into the climate fund.

He also attended the reception of Bangladeshi expatriates in Germany and various European countries at the Bergerhaus Gerching Hotel in Munich.
