(24News) Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that Pakistan is grateful to partners and friends international organizations that cooperated with the government to eradicate polio.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif launched a special polio campaign for the complete eradication of polio from the country, during which 30 million children under the age of five will be given the vaccine to prevent this deadly disease in 115 districts across the country. Under this special campaign, which will continue till September, 2 lakh 86 thousand polio workers will go door to door and administer polio drops to children.

The Prime Minister, while launching a special anti-polio campaign, administered polio vaccine drops to the children and later said in his address that he was grateful to the partners and friendly international organizations that cooperated with the government to eradicate polio from Pakistan. He said that he is hopeful that the federal government will be successful in the complete elimination of polio from the country in collaboration with the provincial governments and partners.

Prime Minister’s Coordinator for Health Dr. Mukhtar Bharath, Prime Minister’s Special Representative for Polio Prevention Ayesha Raza Farooq, representatives of World Health Organization, UNICEF, Gates Foundation and United Nations as well as relevant senior officials participated in the ceremony.
