Georgia wants to fully integrate into the EU by 2030, Kobahidze emphasized during the government meeting, adding that next year he expects a new beginning in the difficult relations between Tbilisi and Brussels.

Although Georgia has been a candidate country for the EU since 2023, Brussels has frozen the accession process in response to several repressive laws, the adoption of which in the parliament, ignoring protests, was achieved this year by the ruling party “Georgia Dream”.

Kobahidze announced that the parliamentary elections were a vote of confidence in his government.

According to the preliminary results announced by the election commission, “Georgian Dream” won 54% of the votes in the election.

Meanwhile, the pro-Western president Salome Zurabishvili has declared that these results are a complete falsification and has also expressed suspicions of Russian interference.

She has also invited citizens to mass demonstrations on Monday night to protest against the falsification of election results.

The pro-European opposition has also refused to recognize these results, and the largest opposition party associations have refused to take their seats in the parliament.
