Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina called upon the countrymen to cooperate in finding those involved in destructive activities and bring them under punishment.
He made this call after visiting the Bangladesh Television (BTV) building which was recently damaged by fire and attack in the capital’s Rampura on Friday (July 26) morning.
Referring to the destruction of various structures including Metrorail, BTV, the Prime Minister said, ‘Find those who are involved in all these, wherever they are in Bangladesh, and cooperate to punish them. I appeal to the countrymen. ‘
He said, ‘I will tell the countrymen, I will tell the people of Dhaka, for whom you are suffering today, for those who destroyed, for whom the image of Bangladesh is being destroyed abroad today, I am passing the burden of judgment on the people of this country.’
Sheikh Hasina said, ‘Those who have put their hands on the bread and sustenance of the people of this country and blocked the way of bread and sustenance, the people will have to judge them. Because people are the only power of this country. ‘
Calling for caution so that no one spreads confusion by spreading lies, the Chief Minister said, ‘No one should be misled by false propaganda. Let everyone know the real truth. ‘
Highlighting the attack and damage to BTV, Sheikh Hasina said, ‘Since coming to the government after 21 years in 1996 and forming the government in the second term in 2009, we have equipped BTV with various developments and modern equipment. But today, after so many years, it was seen that the people of Bengal are seeing a horrible image of the hellish rampage of the Pakistani invaders in 1971.
The prime minister said, “Pakistani army has not touched the television nor has anyone ever. But today, those who burnt this television center in this way, not a single thing has been saved. So who are they? Are they the people of this country? Are they born in this country? Their attack is with the idea of completely destroying a country.’
Referring to the various development programs of the Awami League government in the past years, Sheikh Hasina said, ‘We have made this country independent with great difficulty. And today Bangladesh is the role model of development. Today Bangladesh has got the status of developing country. This destruction is to destroy that death.’
Reminiscing about coming to BTV several times, the Prime Minister said, ‘Today I remember the past, how many times I have come here. I come here to give speeches before every election. I have come to various events. After the devastation I saw today, I don’t know when it will be re-established.’
At that time, Sheikh Hasina said in a very emotional voice, ‘Seeing them, I can’t speak anymore. When one thing has to be done with great difficulty.
He said, ‘I work tirelessly day and night. That is for the people of my country. We try to make things in such a way that they are attractive not only in the country but also to foreigners.’
The Prime Minister also said, ‘It will be used as a symbol of the progress we are making in the country. Those places are being destroyed one by one, in each case. He wants to finish all the fruits of so much trouble so far. This is the biggest pain. I want justice from the countrymen, I want their cooperation.’
