With the end of the winter holidays on Sunday March 5th, the time has come for the first assessments for the ski resorts. This year, the professionals are smiling, the tourists were there, as in Auron, in the Alpes-Maritimes.

In Auron (Alpes-Maritimes), the last holidaymakers benefit, Sunday March 5, from a beautiful snow and 21°C on the slopes of the station. “The snow is great, the weather is nice, what more do you want us to say?”, says a man. Summer atmosphere therefore on the restaurant terraces for a successful season with nearly 20% more turnover with the return of foreign tourists. “We had a better season compared to last year and then the last two years with the Covid, it had dropped a little bit. We had a lot of foreigners who came back, (…) it’s good, it’s people who consume”supports Fabrice Barrassi, director of the restaurant La Bergerie.

Between 15 and 20% increase in attendance

Parisian tourists are also there and take advantage of the Riviera sun. The balance of the season is therefore on the rise, with attendance that promises to be record with the forecast around 300,000 skier days. “We will probably be between 15 and 20% increase in terms of number of skier days and number of nights, thanks to a very good month of January and March”, reports Pascal Lequenne, director of the Auron Tourist Office. The ski area remains open until April 23.
