The vast majority of women diagnosed today will still be alive in five years.

The announcement of a diagnosis of breast cancer is always experienced as a shock by the woman concerned and her entourage. Fear of the consequences of the treatment, the impact on personal life, and, of course, of not recovering from it. However, the prognosis of this disease has improved significantly in recent decades, and for many the ordeal will lead to a happy recovery.

The analysis carried out by a team of British researchers on vast national data provides a good insight. Published in the British Medical Journal , it covers 512,000 women who were diagnosed with early breast cancer between 1993 and 2020 (i.e. the tumor does not exceed 5 cm and has not spread to more than three lymph nodes) .
