The Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan, together with the Ganja – Dashkesan Regional Department of Culture, the Ganja State Philharmonic named after Fikret Amirov and the Union of Ashugs of Azerbaijan, launched the project “Our Musical Identity” (Musiqi kimliyimiz), within the framework of which evenings dedicated to ashug art and epics with a long history will be held , the press service of the Philharmonic told Day.Az.
The Urban Center at the Ganja State Philharmonic hosted the literary and artistic event “Evening of the Epic” (Dastan axşamı).
At the opening, the director of the Philharmonic, Honored Artist of Azerbaijan Ramil Gasimov spoke about the state’s concern for ashug art, which is the basis of national folk art and included in the UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage. It was noted that the goal of the project is to promote national values among young people and present the ancient heritage to the general public.
Ashugs Elbrus Huseynov and Shokhrat Kerimov performed at the evening.
Let us remind you that on March 2 at 19:00 an evening will be held at the Philharmonic, which will be dedicated to the memory of the outstanding representative of Azerbaijani ashug art, master of words and saz, Ashug Alesker.
