The Prosecutor General’s Office of Russia took control of the investigation of criminal cases into the poisoning of residents of the Orenburg region with surrogate alcohol, according to the agency’s website.
“The Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation has put under control the investigation by the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation of criminal cases initiated on the fact of the poisoning of residents of the Orenburg region,” the message says.
In the case, 37 victims were identified, of whom 18 died, the rest are provided with medical assistance, the department specifies.
Earlier, investigators detained three suspects in the illegal sale of alcohol, after poisoning with which people died in the Orenburg region. According to the IC, a 29-year-old resident of Orsk, who, according to the investigation, organized the illegal production and sale of dangerous alcohol, was detained, a 60-year-old man and a 47-year-old woman who sold this alcohol to the victims.
