This Friday, June 23, the summons days of the Office of the Attorney General of the Nation to seek answers to the theft of money from the former chief of staff, Laura Sarabia, would conclude. However, the Prosecutor’s Office reported that the appointment with Armando Benedetti would have been rescheduled because the former ambassador claims that he is being threatened.

Through a statement, the entity confirmed that an official of the Prosecutor’s Office would have met with Benedetti. “A prosecutor delegated to the Supreme Court of Justice met this morning, June 23, with Mr. Benedetti Villaneda.”

According to the information provided by the entity, the former ambassador said that it was not possible to declare: “who assured (Benedetti) that he could not declare at the moment due to the threats he would have received in recent days.”

Former ambassador Armando Benedetti was summoned to testify for the alleged illegal campaign financing of the now president Gustavo Petro, after the revelation of audios in which the former official is heard saying that he would have obtained 15 billion pesos for the presidential campaign.

Benedetti told him that the Prosecutor’s Office would still be looking for evidence to verify the threats he has been receiving.

“The former ambassador indicated that he will file a complaint for the crime of threats, as soon as he collects sufficient evidence to support the type of intimidation he has received,” the statement said.

In addition, Benedetti requested the intervention of the Prosecutor’s Office before the National Protection Unit (UNP) and the National Police to improve his own security conditions and those of his family circle.

That is why the entity decided to reschedule Armando Benedetti’s statement in the case of possible illegal financing of Gustavo Petro’s campaign.
