The prosecutor’s office of the Kemerovo region (Kuzbass) found violations in six organizations during an explosion hazard inspection of all mining enterprises in the region. The check is carried out on behalf of the Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov after the accident at the Listvyazhnaya mine, where 52 people died.
“As of November 25, 2021, six organizations were checked, violations were identified related to the operation of mines that did not meet industrial safety requirements, the duration of continuous rest of workers, the failure to provide them with personal protective equipment, as well as violations of the requirements in the production of planned and unscheduled safety instructions” , – reported on the website of the Siberian Department of the Prosecutor General’s Office.
Based on the results of inspections, the prosecutor’s office opened 28 cases of administrative offenses. We are talking about articles on violation of the requirements for the organization of safe use and maintenance of elevators, lifting platforms for disabled people, passenger conveyors and escalators, as well as violation of state regulatory requirements for labor protection.
On November 25, the Kemerovo department of the Ministry of Emergency Situations received a signal about smoke in the Listvyazhnaya mine. At that time, there were 285 miners underground. 52 people were preliminarily recognized as dead, of which 46 were miners and 6 were rescuers. Some of the victims are still underground. The number of victims, according to media reports, is 57 people. Yesterday, due to the threat of an explosion, the search and rescue operation in the mine was suspended; today it was resumed. A case was initiated on violation of the industrial safety requirements of hazardous production facilities (part 3 of article 217 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), the director of the mine, his deputy and the head of the section were detained. Mourning was announced in Kuzbass from November 26 to 28.
