The Attorney General’s Office has launched a preliminary investigation against four key figures in President Gustavo Petro’s government for the UNGRD scandal.
Among those under investigation are the Minister of Finance, Ricardo Bonilla; the director of the National Intelligence Directorate (DNI), Carlos Ramón González; the former presidential advisor for the regions, Sandra Ortiz; and the former Minister of the Interior, Luis Fernando Velasco. All of them are believed to be involved in the corruption case of the National Unit for Disaster Risk Management (UNGRD).
Minister Ricardo Bonilla responded to the accusations made by Olmedo López, former director of UNGRD, through a message on his social networks.I will face with respect for justice any examination of my official acts.“Bonilla wrote, adding that his innocence will prevail thanks to the evidence and arguments that his legal team will present. “Without distracting me from my true obligations,” the minister emphasized.

The investigation by the Prosecutor’s Office originated after the leak of Olmedo López’s statements before the Supreme CourtIn his testimony, López mentioned meetings in which Minister Bonilla allegedly reported on orders to direct multimillion-dollar contracts to the department of Arauca. This revelation has led the Attorney General’s Office to thoroughly investigate the possible irregularities committed by these high-ranking government officials.
In addition to Bonilla and Velasco, the Prosecutor’s Office has also focused its attention on Carlos Ramón González and Sandra Ortiz, who held strategic positions within the government and could have been involved in the same corruption plot.
The opening of this preliminary investigation is a step towards clarifying the allegations of corruption and ensuring that justice is done.
