The prosecutor’s office organized a check in connection with a fire in a residential building on the embankment of the Karpovka River in St. Petersburg. This was reported to Izvestia by the senior assistant to the prosecutor of the Petrograd region, Nikolai Ivanov, on Saturday evening, October 9.
“The Prosecutor’s Office of the Petrogradskiy District has organized an inspection in connection with the spread of fire in an apartment building on the embankment of the Karpovka River. In the course of the prosecutor’s inspection, the reasons and conditions for the incident will be established, and the fulfillment of the requirements of the legislation on fire safety will be assessed. If there are grounds, exhaustive measures of the prosecutor’s response will be taken, ”said a representative of the department.
As of 23:00 Moscow time, the fire was localized, the rank was lowered from the third to the second. There are no dead or injured, the press service of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia in St. Petersburg reported.
A fire in the former apartment house of Chubakov on the embankment of the Karpovka River broke out at about 22:36 on Saturday, October 9. The fire covered 800 sq. meters of construction of the early twentieth century. The fire rank has been raised to third. 100 people were evacuated from a residential building.
The evacuated residents of the house are temporarily placed in gymnasium number 56, the amount of necessary assistance and compensation for losses after the fire is being investigated, TASS reports.
On Wednesday, October 6, a large fire broke out in the old house of the Shakhov merchants of the 19th century in Vologda. The fire spread over an area of 225 sq. m and completely destroyed the building. The Shakhovs’ house of merchants was an architectural monument.
