Órdago of the PSOE of Emiliano García-Page to the PP of Castilla-La Mancha 48 hours after the constitution of the town halls after the municipal elections on May 28. He has offered to establish a sanitary cordon for Vox to prevent the ultra-right from entering to govern in the municipalities of Ciudad Real, Albacete, Puertollano, Toledo, Talavera de la Reina and Guadalajara. The PSOE has prepared a document to sign an agreement with the PP which, according to the deputy secretary of the PSOE in Toledo and national deputy, Esther Padilla, would allow the ‘populares’ of Paco Núñez to demonstrate that they have “principles and word”.
As they have specified elDiarioclm.es Socialist sources, the Socialists promise to facilitate, with the abstention of their councilors, a solo government of the PP (without the need for “assignments” to Vox) in Albacete, Ciudad Real and Puertollano if, in turn, the ‘populares’ facilitate a PSOE governments alone in Talavera de la Reina, Toledo and Guadalajara. With this, the most voted lists would govern in the six cities.
The same sources specify that the document has the objective of collecting a PSOE-PP agreement that guarantees respect for the most voted list in the elections of May 28, 2023 in all the municipalities of the region where the circumstance occurs that no party has obtained an absolute majority of the votes.
The PSOE speeds up deadlines and insists
It is not the first time that the Socialists have made this offer to the Castilian-Manchegan PP after the municipal elections, but on this occasion there is a document prepared where it is specified that the current pact would be fulfilled in those six municipalities. Even before 28M they already asked Paco Núñez to agree to the government of the most voted list if the latter renounced to agree with Vox.
“They have 48 hours”, the socialist leader added, who said that if the PP does not sign this agreement that tries to prevent the “ultra-right” from entering these six important municipalities of Castilla-La Mancha, it will be demonstrated, in her opinion, that for the PP of Alberto Núñez Feijóo agreeing with Vox “is not an option”, but rather “a preference and a priority”.
Having said this, he has stated that the PP has this document in its hand so that in Castilla-La Mancha it is visualized that “where there is a will” pacts with Vox can be avoided.
Padilla recalled that in the last electoral campaign, the PSOE of Castilla-La Mancha warned and alerted citizens of the “danger and risk” that the PP and Vox represented for the different municipal, provincial and autonomous community governments. “We said it before voting and we say it now after voting”, recalled the socialist leader, asking the same of the PP, who before the elections – she recalled – said that “the pacts with radicals were not good”. “It was said from Feijóo to Núñez.”
As he has pointed out, now is the time to fulfill these words and avoid pacts that will allow “the ultra-right” to make decisions in the municipalities of Castilla-La Mancha.
The response of the president of the PP in Castilla-La Mancha, Paco Núñez, has been to accuse the PSOE of “marketing” with the city councils when it insists on asking the ‘popular’ to respect the most voted list in the main cities. “It is an unprecedented lack of respect for democracy”, has sentenced the leader of the ‘populares’ in the region.
He has remarked that his party is not going to “market” with politics and democracy. “The political parties cannot try to market as the PSOE wants to do with the municipalities, this is not about distributing municipalities in an office,” Núñez pointed out.
