National deputy Edouard Mwangachuchu before the High Military Court

The Auditor General of the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) delivered his indictment today during a public hearing. According to the officer of the public prosecutor’s office, Édouard Mwangachuchu, Congolese national deputy, is found guilty of the charges against him and deserves a sentence of penal servitude for life.

Édouard Mwangachuchu is prosecuted for treason, participation in an insurrectionary movement and illegal possession of weapons and munitions of war. Suspicions hang over him and his co-defendant regarding their alleged links with the M23 rebels. The charges also include espionage and illegal possession of weapons of war.

These prosecutions were initiated following discoveries made by the military intelligence services. Weapons of war were found at the residence of Édouard Mwangachuchu in Kinshasa, as well as in the premises of his company SMB in Masisi, in the province of North Kivu.

The court will carefully study the evidence presented by the prosecution before rendering its final verdict.
