The government intends to introduce a system of QR codes when purchasing tickets for railway or air transport, said the head of the Ministry of Transport Vitaly Savelyev. Also, the code will need to be presented when boarding a plane or train. Such a proposal is contained in the draft laws on QR codes submitted to the State Duma.
“When buying tickets and boarding both an airplane and a railway carriage, special medical documentation approved by the law will be presented. The start time will be determined by the government if such laws are adopted, ”said Mr. Savelyev at the briefing. According to him, the government, together with the aviation and railway companies, will work out the technology, “as quickly as possible to check the medical documentation that will be presented so as not to delay passengers at boarding.”
In the bills, the government has proposed so far to allow boarding and travel on trains with the presentation of not only QR codes for vaccination, but also negative PCR tests for coronavirus. This decision will be valid “until the date that the government sets by its regulation.”
The Russian Union of Travel Industry had previously suggested asking for QR codes not when buying tickets, but when checking in for a flight or boarding a plane. S7 Airlines also did not support checking QR codes at the stage of purchasing air tickets and indicated that checking at the stage of check-in and boarding would require detailed technological elaboration.
