Spain, defending champion, started the Basketball World Cup with a victory without forcing, Saturday August 26, against Côte d’Ivoire in Jakarta (94-64). The Spaniards, deprived of their leaders Ricky Rubio and Lorenzo Brown, who withdrew for the competition, had widened the gap at the break (53-34).
