The Sahraouiya raid is now a renowned event which has, over the years, anchored its place in the sporting, but also social and tourist landscape of Morocco and abroad.

This edition marking the decade of the raid, which began yesterday in Dakhla, sees the influx of competitors from different backgrounds of the African continent and Europe, determined to overcome all obstacles in order to represent Moroccan and foreign associations.

Thus, the city of Dakhla, pearl of the Moroccan Sahara, will vibrate to the rhythms of a unique event of its kind, uniting goodwill and promoting the status of women, social inclusion and the promotion of our magnificent southern provinces. at the heart of its priorities.

Sahroauiya is a story of love and gratitude, a dream that brought together women from different cultures and backgrounds around a new challenge that began ten years ago.

At that time, the late Aïcha Chenna, the “godmother of the heart” of this ten-year edition, had agreed to join this dream and had become the official godmother of the Sahraouiya feminine and solidarity challenge, underlined the president of the Lagon Dakhla Association. , Laila Ouachi.

“This adventure is above all a journey for each participant to demonstrate solidarity with the feminine, which motivates them to surpass themselves, to demonstrate flexibility and a spirit of sharing,” she added in a statement to the MAP on the sidelines of this event.

This sporting and solidarity event has always carried a real message of solidarity diplomacy. It has already brought together several thousand women, from all backgrounds, to promote the city of Dakhla internationally.

Ms. Ouachi praised the slogan adopted by Sahraouiya for a decade, which “highlights the values ​​of solidarity and commitment in order to serve a humanitarian cause in an exceptional context, in this case support for inhabitants of disadvantaged areas.” announcing that a charity event will be organized to contribute to the construction of the 6th SOS Children’s Village in Morocco in the city of Dakhla.

At the same time, the organizers wish to raise participants’ awareness of the country’s cultural practices and include the heritage of the Hassani desert in the adventure, particularly through traditional meals, entertainment activities and meetings with the local population.

This exclusively female sporting event takes place in pairs, from start to finish, for an experience of sharing and cooperation between the turquoise waters of the Atlantic Ocean and the golden sand dunes.

In ten years, more than 1,000 participants from all over the world have taken part in the different editions of this sporting springboard and have been able to support more than 90 associations, to collect a total of donations amounting to more than 1,186,032 dirhams, according to the organizers. .
