An incident in Coimbatore where a prisoner who was being taken for trial in a murder case suddenly shot at the police with a concealed gun and tried to escape has created a stir.
Two weeks ago in Avarampalayam, Coimbatore, a man named Sathya Pandi was hacked to death by a gang and shot dead. The police investigation revealed that the murder took place due to an enmity between two gangs.
In this regard, four mercenaries surrendered in Arakkonam and Chennai courts. Among them, Sanjay Raja, a mercenary leader, was taken into custody and questioned by the Coimbatore Special Forces. It was then revealed that the gun used to commit the murder was of Chinese manufacture and that he was in possession of two guns.

After this, the police confiscated the gun that was kept in Chennai. Sanjay Raja told the investigation that another gun was kept in Karatumedu area near Saravanampatti, Coimbatore. Following this, this morning Sanjay Raja was taken by the special police to Karatumedu area and went to confiscate the gun. Then someone unexpectedly took out a hidden gun and fired two rounds at the police. Fortunately, the police were not harmed.
After this, Assistant Inspector Chandrasekhar shot at Sanjay Raja in self-defence. A bullet hit Sanjay Raja’s left leg. The police caught Sanjay Raja who stumbled and fell down and confiscated the gun. Later, the police admitted him to Coimbatore Government Hospital for treatment. He is receiving intensive care there. The Saravanampatti police are investigating the incident.
How about a Chinese model gun to the rowdy gang?
In this case, it has been revealed that both the guns used in the murder incident are Chinese made guns. An investigation is being conducted into how the mercenary gang acquired this Chinese model gun and whether Chinese weapons are being sold in the counterfeit market. Meanwhile, police security has been strengthened in front of the red zone section where Sanjay Raja is admitted to the Coimbatore Government Hospital. More than 15 policemen, including two gun-toting policemen, have been deployed for security.
