Time.news – Forty-six brands of mineral water, tested by Gambero Rosso, the magazine for curious and greedy consumers in an unprecedented return to origins, when in the second half of the 80s it gave scores to foods after having subjected them to technical and scientific analyses.

A real comparison between those without added gas, the smooth and the natural effervescent ones, purchased in large-scale distribution and “blind tasted by a panel of expert tasters, including two water tasters”.

The values taken into consideration concern “lightness”, “cleanliness”, “complexity”, “harmony” and “pleasantness”with a score of one to one hundred. None of the 46 labels reaches the maximum, so much so that the first classified – San Bernardo water – stops at 91 points as the five drops given for each value would lack one precisely under the heading “complexity”. Last in the ranking, the San Benedetto Ecogreen, which gets just 50 points missing three drops for “lightness”, four in “cleanliness”, “complexity”, “harmony” and also “pleasantness”.

In between all the others, from Lauretana (90 points), to Frasassi (85), passing through Consilia (82), Fabia (80) tied with Fonte Ilaria while Carrefour Classic Monviso stands at 77 points above Esselunga Ulmeta but also above Sant’Anna (75). Norda is at 72 points, Surgiva and Vitasnella at 70, San Benedetto with Viva at 67, Lurisia 64, Rocchetta 62, Vera 59, Evian 56 with Pejo, Boario 55 points together with Dolomiti and Fiuggi, Levico is at 53, Levissima at 51.

Out of the calculation, from the ranking and therefore also from the tasting analysis, the Panna and San Pellegrino waters, which are “sponsors of Gambero Rosso”, warns en passant in one line the gourmet magazine, according to which “tasting water to evaluate it is not easy” because “it requires a greater effort than tasting other products in the search for the smallest sensations on the nose and on the palate”. That is, it requires “long times, attention, pauses” and “the situation becomes more complicated” if one adds that for some tasters “the water must not taste like anything, while for others it will have to express its complexity and fullness, without prejudice to cleanliness and the absence of defects”.

In any case, a certainly thirst-quenching test.
