The incident in which a pledge was made in Sanskrit at a program for first year students held at the Madurai Government Medical College on Saturday caused great controversy throughout Tamil Nadu. Medical College Dean Rathinavelle has been placed on a waiting list in this regard.
AIADMK coordinator O. Panneerselvam has issued a statement in this regard. Looking at the news of the ‘Maharishi Sarak Sabath’ pledge, it is clear that no clear instructions have been given on behalf of the Tamil Nadu government and that the students have not obtained permission from anyone to read the pledge.
Although the pledge to medical students in the new way is a sad process, one of the main reasons for this event is the failure to provide clear advice in advance on behalf of the state. The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu should immediately intervene in this matter and find a solution. It is unjust to punish a medical college principal for not making a mistake. Again he should be hired as the Principal of the Medical College. The AIADMK also called on the government to take steps to provide appropriate advice in advance in the future.
