After the renovation, on April 28, the “Rimi” supermarket opens in the Olimpia shopping center, which will be more compact, keeping the hypermarket format popular with customers and adding to the range of offers.

“Rimi” hypermarket is located on the first floor of the center on an area of 4,500 square meters, providing 60 workplaces. It will offer both a selection of the usual products and an assortment of new products, for example, a Latvian official stand has been set up, a special offer of dietary products or organic products has been created. In the store premises, sustainable solutions have also been thought of to reduce the impact on the environment, for example, LED lighting and energy-efficient cold equipment will be used.
“The compact design of the newly opened Rimi store is a valuable addition as part of the center’s modernization project. We especially appreciate the changes implemented by “Rimi”, which also contribute to the sustainable development of the entire center, such as energy-efficient showcases for fresh products. Also, during the reconstruction, we have carried out various environmentally friendly solution-related improvements, such as placing solar panels on the roof of the building and switching to LED lighting in all rooms. In total, 8 million euros have been invested in the renovation and reconstruction of the “Olimpia” shopping center,” comments Liene Apine, manager of the “Olimpia” shopping center.
The reconstruction of “Rimi” is only a part of the reconstruction of “Olimpia”, it is expected that in the near future, new stores of locally known brands as well as such brands as “Tradehouse”, which have not yet been seen in Latvia, will open their doors in the center. Also, “Olimpia” will be the first “Miniso” store In Latvia, where you can find various household goods, toys and cosmetics. With the completion of the reconstruction of the center’s first floor, “Olimpia” continues to offer the widest range of sports and leisure goods stores in one place, including “outlet” stores. After the full opening of the center, 6,500 square meters will be allocated to these tenants, which will also be occupied by the expanded “Sports Direct” and the newly opened leisure store “Weekend”.
The transformation of the first floor of the shopping center “Olimpia” started at the beginning of this year in order to improve its energy efficiency and make structural changes. “Delfi Bizness” already reported that the investment company “Grinvest”, the owner of “Olimpia”, agreed with “Swedbank” for 17.5 million euros in financing for the refinancing of the shopping center’s obligations and reconstruction. “Grinvest” purchased this property at the end of 2020 and began its gradual transformation and renovation.
The sales area of the shopping center is 25 thousand. square meter; it has more than 60 tenants.
