The Paris Olympics will start on July 24. Archer Sagar Islam will march past the Bangladesh flag at the opening ceremony of the Olympics on July 26.
Five contestants will represent Bangladesh in this year’s Olympics. Bangladesh has been going to the Olympic Games since 1984. This year, 54 people represented Bangladesh in the Olympics. But till now he has not got any medal in Olympics.

Sagar qualified directly for the Olympics by performing brilliantly in the boys’ recurve event at the ‘2024 Final World Quota Tournament’ in Anatolia, Turkey last month. Sagar is already excited to receive the responsibility of carrying the flag. This sportsman hoped for a good performance with enthusiasm, ‘Olympics is a big stage, it is a great feeling to perform here, as well as a pride to carry the country’s flag. I will definitely try, which has never happened in the Olympic history of Bangladesh – there is no Olympic medal, I will definitely try my best to bring a medal. Apart from Archer Sagar, Samiul Islam Rafi in 100m swimming, Sonya Akhter, the only female athlete in 50m swimming, Rabiul Islam in 10m shooting and Imranur Rahman, a sprinter (athlete) in 100m, are participating in the Olympics. They will start their journey to Paris from tomorrow Friday.
Bangladesh Olympic Association (BOA) Secretary General Syed Shahed Reza, in a written statement, supposedly did not hold out any promise of a medal. He said, ‘We expect the players to compete to the best of their abilities in a competitive spirit and bring honorable results for the country.’
