The selection of the new tender for the Ioannina – Kalpaki – Kakavia project, as a faster process, is preferred by the regional authority, after the second cancellation of the tender of the Ministry of Infrastructure by the Unified Authority for Public Contracts.
The reason for the appeal, as explained by the regional governor, Alexandros Kahrimanis, has to do with the conditions regarding the experience in similar projects, with a new consortium of smaller companies claiming its participation in the tender, which the Unified Authority deemed acceptable with the decision her.
Thus, the Ministry’s options at this stage are either to re-announce the project with the necessary changes in the drafting of the tender documents, or to appeal to the Council of State, with the aim of canceling the decision of the Unified Authority.
“Easier for me is the path of the new declaration”, said Mr. Kahrimanis, noting that 52 days are required until the publication in the Journal of the European Union, which means that in about two months the tender may be “in the air”. “This is my opinion and I boldly told it to the ministry. There is no other issue with this project”, noted Mr. Kahrimanis, who is in contact with the Ministry’s officials, awaiting the final decisions. “I think, either way, it will go ahead immediately,” he concluded.
