ImThe remains of more than 240 people, including children, have been found under a former department store in Glund. The remains were found under an old oaky white building in Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, England. A popular department store operated here until 2013. However, it is believed that a monastic monastery functioned here during the medieval period. Archaeologists believe it is St. Xavier’s Monastery, founded by Dominican monks around 1256.

Andrew Shobrock, site supervisor from Dyfed Archaeological Trust, described the hermitage as an important complex of buildings containing dormitories, scriptoriums – rooms devoted to writing and manuscripts – stables and an infirmary. ‘Dead bodies should be buried in a very prestigious place. “You can find dead bodies of many people here, from the rich to the common townspeople,” he added. It is believed that the cemetery was in use until the early 18th century.

About half of the remains are of children. Archaeologists say this indicates a high mortality rate among children at the time. However, some of the remains were found to have head injuries. These may have been formed during the war. Shawbrook added that many of the wounds were caused by arrows or other weapons.

It is believed that these may be the remains of those killed in the attack by Owain Glyndor, a native of Wales and the last Prince of Wales. Welsh to fight the English invasion of Wales. A combined force of French armies landed. Shawbrook added that “Owain Glyndr besieged the town in 1405 and they may have been victims of that conflict”. The remains and other finds were cleaned and moved to a nearby building for safekeeping.
