The renewed production of the rock opera “Lāčplēsis” will be performed in Lielvārde for 119,000 euros

The cultural center of Ogre region has signed a contract for the performance of the renewed production of the rock opera “Lāčplēsis”. The tender for this procurement was not announced in advance. The center explains that a unique work of art is being purchased – a restored version of the rock opera “Lāčplēsis”. Based on the permission, agreement and instructions of the authors of the rock opera Zigmars Liepiņš and Māras Zālīte, the implementation and performance of the rock opera is delegated by the authors to SIA “Izklaides producerutu grupa 7”, with which the contract was also concluded.

The center draws attention to the fact that 135 years have passed since the publication of the epic, 35 years since the first rock opera took place, as well as the 150th anniversary of the Song and Dance Festival.

The total contract price is 118,709 euros without value added tax. Works to be performed in Lielvārde, Lielvārde park.

According to the information on the portal “Firmas.lv”, SIA “Izklaides produceru grupa 7” was founded in 2012 and its share capital is 2,800 euros. The company is owned by Aigars Dinsberg. The capital company had a turnover of 35,516 euros in 2021, ending the year with a profit of 109,534 euros. More recent data on the company’s activity is not yet available.

The rock opera Lāčplēsis is a Latvian musical with music by Zigmars Liepiņš and a libretto by Māras Zālītes. The libretto was written in 1986/87. year. The premiere took place on August 23, 1988. According to the information provided on the homepage of Māras Zālīte, there have been a total of 43 performances, which were watched by 4,000 spectators each time; including the audience of concert performances, the number exceeds 180,000.

In 2013, after a 25-year hiatus, the renewed version of the rock opera premiered.

On November 8, 2018, the rock opera “Lāčplēsis” dedicated to Latvia’s centenary was performed in Arena Riga.
