At the end of April, the inauguration of the Artificial Kidney and Peritoneal Cleansing Unit will take place at the Rhodes Hospital, as the works to upgrade the facilities funded by the Region of S. Aegean, with 137,000.00 euros, have been completed.
As the commander of the Rhodes Hospital, Mr. Stavros Tsantis, told “d”, patients will now undergo their treatments in a fully renovated and modern space, as will the doctors and nursing staff of the Unit.
For the renovation work of the Artificial Kidney and Peritoneal Cleansing Unit of the Rhodes Hospital, a Program Contract was signed in March 2023 between the regional governor of the South Aegean Giorgos Hatzimarkos and the commander of the General Hospital of Rhodes “Andreas Papandreou”, Stavros Tsantis.
The exact date of the opening will be announced in the near future.
Based on the Programming Agreement, the South Aegean Region was the funding body for the project, with a total cost of 137,000, with the Rhodes General Hospital as the implementing body.
The purpose of the project was to upgrade the facilities of the Artificial Kidney and Peritoneal Cleansing Units at the Rhodes Hospital, with the increase of patient wards, as well as with the replacement of floors, water supply and air conditioning pipes, with the renovation of the colors and other renovation works.
The project was financed by the Public Investment Program for the year 2023, of the South Aegean Region.
The project envisaged the upgrading of the facilities of the Artificial Kidney and Peritoneal Cleansing Units of G.N. Rhodes with the conversion of the four-bed peritoneal dialysis ward into two double patient wards and the changing rooms of the staff of the Units and two neighboring offices belonging to social services into a three-bed patient ward.
In addition, the waiting area of the social services offices was converted into a storage area, along with the replacement of floors and renovation of colors.
Free wireless Internet at the Rhodes Hospital
In the context of the modernization and upgrading of the services provided by the Rhodes Hospital, the provision of free wireless Internet in all areas of the Hospital Institution is included.
With two different benefits, one for medical and nursing staff and one for patients and visitors, free and fast access to the Internet is now provided.
Clinics and departments of the Hospital will be able to communicate with each other more easily and faster, facilitating the work of doctors and nursing staff.
The project also covers an important part of the modern communication needs of people who work or are hospitalized in public hospital units, with the use of smart devices of new technology, while these new infrastructures will also contribute to reducing the operational costs of the Hospitals’ information systems.
The equipment has advanced security and reliability standards, in order to offer high connection speeds to users of portable devices (mobile phones and tablets), to simultaneously serve a very large number of users, and to require a minimum administrative load for their operation, using modern technologies.
