the replica of Oikos Ets

Oikos Ets, a third sector organization that, among other things, manages several communities for unaccompanied foreign minors, clarifies the events that occurred last Saturday, August 9, inside the Fagagna facility, when the Carabinieri intervened following a report.

“What actually happened is that a boy with a profile of psychiatric distress already reported and taken in charge by the competent services – in this case child neuropsychiatry – refused to take his pharmacological therapy. This led the boy to have a crisis and go into a rage, involving other children. Therefore not a “futile reason”, but a vulnerable boy with a serious psychiatric situation and non-compliant with pharmacological treatments”, explain from Oikos. “The operators called 112 to support their work and with the aim of managing the failure to take the therapy, in order to ensure the safety of the minor, the other beneficiaries and the operators themselves, as well as to guarantee the correct intake of the pharmacological therapy prescribed by neuropsychiatry. In these cases of psychomotor crisis, when the ambulance or the health personnel arrives, it is standard practice for the law enforcementto secure the boy, the other minors and the staff of the facility”, continues the note from the association. “When the police arrived, the situation was already calm thanks to the work of the three operators present and neither their intervention nor any medication for any injuries sustained by the boys was necessary. None of the boys were injured in any way. The health workers, who did their job admirably, managed to convince the boy to take the therapy and administer it to him”
