His guest list Met Gala is every year a well-kept secret. To be among the celebrities walking the red carpet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, one must have an invitation. Its value this year is an astronomical $75,000, but that doesn’t mean it’s enough if someone can afford it. The criteria are mainly about fame, achievements but also beauty with Anna Wintour always having the final say. Many of the famous guests do not buy the coveted ticket themselves but are secured by the fashion houses they are invited to represent with their appearance at the big fashion party.
The Met Gala 2024 hosts
Every first Monday in May, everyone’s eyes are drawn to the impressive looks of the guests who adapt the evening’s dress code to their personality. This is how it happened again this year when Zendaya, Chris Hemsworth, Jennifer Lopez and Bad Bunny took on the role of host.
However, some celebrities made their presence felt by their absence. We may not know the list of guests, but the frequency of the presence of many of them makes them an integral part of the evening. At the Met Gala 2024 there were quite a few who we expected to see but never appeared on the carpet which this year was painted green to match the dress code theme which was The Garden of Time.
The resounding absences
THE Rihanna she was one of the celebrities we were looking forward to seeing at this year’s Met Gala, but it seems that some virus forced her to stay away. Her absence caused the same disappointment to her fans Blake Lively who last year was with her husband, Ryan Reynolds one of the hosts of the evening. It seems that the couple preferred to stay at home this year.
Another couple we wanted to see together on the carpet is Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce. Of course, the singer had made known early on her intention to be absent from this year’s event as she is preparing for her tour.
And although there were several couples who stole the show with their presence, the celebrities who appeared solo made a sensation. First of all, Jennifer Lopez, who is almost always accompanied by her husband to formal evening events, Ben Affleck. This time she was not accompanied by her lover just like Gigi Hadid who did not have him by her side Bradley Cooper but also Kylie Jenner who did not arrive with him Timothée Chalamet.
