Sarhasa: Another small bridge collapsed in Bihar on Wednesday. This is the 13th such incident in the state in the last 21 days. Additional District Magistrate (ADM) of Saharsa district Jyoti Kumar said that we have just received information that such an incident has happened in Mahishi village. It could be a small bridge or culvert. The concerned officials of the district administration are reaching there. We are trying to gather more information about the incident. The ADM said that no casualties have been reported in this accident. The state government has suspended 15 engineers after more than a dozen bridges and culverts collapsed in several districts during the last few weeks.
CM Nitish gave instructions
After a review meeting of the concerned departments last week, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had clearly instructed the concerned officials to survey all the old bridges in the state and identify those bridges which need immediate repair. The Chief Minister had also asked the concerned departments to immediately prepare their respective maintenance policies for bridges or culverts in the state. It should be noted that incidents of bridge collapse are continuously happening in Bihar. Last month, on June 18, the bridge built on the Bakra river in Araria district collapsed. Four days later, on June 22, there was news of the collapse of a bridge built on the Gandak river in Siwan district. On June 23, there was news of a bridge collapse in East Champaran and on June 27 and 30 in Kishanganj. The limit was crossed when there was news of five bridges collapsing in Saran and Siwan districts in a single day.

Politics intensifies on the bridge
Politics started on the incident of bridge collapse. Bihar government’s Deputy CM Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha blamed RJD’s tenure for this. On the other hand, Nitish’s close minister Ashok Chaudhary said that Tejashwi Yadav had this department. Investigation is being done. After that Tejashwi Yadav challenged the Bihar government by writing on X. Tejashwi said that tell me even one bridge, which was built during his tenure. Overall, while the opposition kept attacking the ruling party regarding the bridge, on the other hand, the ruling party kept blaming the opposition for this. However, a 20-year-old bridge collapsed in Lahladpur of Siwan district. This bridge was built in 2004. It cost 22 lakhs. Out of the 6 bridges that collapsed in Siwan in one day, 4 bridges were built during the reign of Lalu Yadav and Rabri Devi.
Politics over bridge collapse
After these incidents, the Bihar government came under the target of the opposition. Tejashwi Yadav had written on Twitter that on July 4, that is, today morning, another bridge collapsed in Bihar. Yesterday, on July 3 alone, 5 bridges collapsed, due to which 12 bridges have collapsed so far. Apart from that, RJD spokesperson Ejaz Ahmed had said that all the bridges were built during the tenure of the NDA government. Nitish Kumar’s government is completely responsible for this. These people are running away from responsibility. There has been corruption in the construction. After that, Samrat Chaudhary’s reply came. He had said that the government has taken the incident of bridge collapse seriously. Every moment’s report is being collected. Who built the bridge, in whose period it was built and who is responsible for it. Strict action will be taken against whoever is guilty. At present, after the incident of bridge collapse in Saharsa, questions have started arising again that the meeting held regarding these incidents has not yielded any accurate results.
