The retirement of laboratory animals, a happy outcome… but exceptional

After being used as part of a scientific experiment, the vast majority of animals held in French laboratories are put to death. Since 2005, a handful of them – dogs, rodents, primates, horses or even fish – experience another fate: they are adopted or welcomed into sanctuaries, where they can enjoy a more peaceful life.
