Oh Seung-hwan, oldest player to play in All-Star Game… Kim Hyun-soo, longest consecutive season, 13 seasons
The return of the ‘monster pitcher’ Ryu Hyun-jin (Hanwha Eagles) will take part in the KBO League’s ‘Festival of Stars’ for the first time in 12 years.

As of the All-Star Game day, he will be 41 years, 11 months, and 21 days old, making him the oldest player to participate in an All-Star Game, including pitchers and batters. The previous oldest player to participate in a game was Yang Jun-hyeok (Samsung) in 2010, at 41 years, 1 month, and 28 days.
If Oh Seung-hwan records a save in this All-Star game, he will become the oldest player to record a save. The current oldest save record is held by Gye Hyeong-cheol (OB Bears) at 35 years, 2 months, and 16 days.
Kim Hyun-soo (LG Twins), a regular in the All-Star Game, is tying the record for consecutive appearances. After receiving his first All-Star honor as a manager-recommended player in 2008, he has been selected as an All-Star every year except for 2016-2017 when he went overseas.
If he makes it to this year’s All-Star game, he will tie Yang Jun-hyuk’s all-time record of 13 consecutive years.
For the past two years in a row, Hanwha has won the honor of ‘Mr. All-Star’. In 2022, Eun-won Jeong and in 2023, Eun-seong Chae were crowned All-Star MVPs.
This year, five players from Hanwha Eagles will be participating in the All-Star Game, raising expectations for the MVP for the third consecutive year.
There have been two instances of the same team winning the MVP award for three consecutive years: Haitai Tigers from 1986 to 1988 and Lotte Giants from 1989 to 1991.
