Kherson – In southeastern Ukraine, the situation is tense in Kherson, where Russians and Ukrainians are separated by the Dnipro River. Bombings are daily and do not spare civilians. But there are those who return to the villages that border the neighboring municipality of Mikolaiv.

Posad Prokovske it is a village halfway between Mikolaev e Kherson. The Russians bombed the village, but never managed to occupy it.

Despite this, only 15 of the 2,400 inhabitants ever stayed on the land. Today, it has 300 people. there is no electricity no communications.

This morning, the wood distribution for the community to be able to rebuild the houses. Many have temporary tarps, put up with support from the United Nations.

The provisional head of the village administration says that it is impossible to rebuild without strong help. There are 940 houses destroyed.

At the end of the week, they will arrive 366 container modules to shelter those who have nowhere to sleep. This is the case of a group that we found in the center of the village. They have been displaced, in the town of Mikolaiv, about 20 kilometers away, but the reopening of a local school has forced them to return to a home they don’t have. One of the women in that group tells me that she also needs financial help, as the pension is not enough to live on. They return to rebuild the house bombed by the Russians and with the hope of victory.

It is a return what is happening, above all, in Mikolaevcontrasting with the neighboring city of Kherson, where despite being rebuilt by the Ukrainians in November, the situation is very tense and has not led to massive return of inhabitants.
