ThatAt first the gate was locked in front of them and never opened again. Even after applying twice, they did not listen. Finally the door was allowed to open as the income fell. The district administration, which had imposed a ban on the official vehicles of motor vehicle inspectors from entering the collectorate at night, changed the decision after realizing that the revenue to the government exchequer had decreased by half a crore.

The new order was issued by District Collector Renu Raj. The Collector has given orders to the Motor Vehicle Department that the vehicles of the officials can enter the Collectorate at any time. District Enforcement Squad Office of Motor Vehicle Department and Ernakulam R.T. are in Collectorate. The office also works. The official vehicles of the officers of this office are parked in the Collectorate premises.

This is where the vehicle is taken for inspection and returned by officers after duty. In the name of collectorate security, the former collector Jafar Malik had banned the entry of motor vehicle department vehicles into the civil station at night. With this, the enforcement officers who conduct vehicle inspections 24 hours a day have been cut off.

After the night inspections, the officers come back in the morning. During this time, the security personnel of the collectorate did not open the door and the officials had to lie outside the collectorate till dawn. The misery of the vehicle inspectors is doubled as the official vehicle cannot be taken out or taken home.

Pointing this out many times earlier enforcement RTO. G. Ananthakrishnan applied to the authorities but the gate was not opened. As a result of this, the night vehicle inspection was stopped by the authorities, and the amount of fine paid to the state exchequer was reduced by half. Last February, the Ernakulam Enforcement Division officials alone collected Rs 91,15,012.

At night, after the ban on vehicles, the fine for the month of March came down to Rs 41,79,075. Due to the ban, the government has a shortfall of Rs 49.35 lakh. The officials realized that the work would be delayed after submitting an application that included a report in this regard. With this, the new collector Renu Raj ordered the entry of officers’ vehicles at night as well.
