Boris Johnson was forced into solitary confinement after attending a meeting with Health Minister Sajid Javid, who later tested positive. Contrary to what was initially communicated by Downing Street, the British premier would not take part in the pilot scheme that would have allowed him to continue to go to work, on the condition that he undergo a daily tampon for ten days: an exception that had caused scandal, when over half a million ordinary citizens across England forced to observe a strict quarantine because they have had contact with infected people. The reverse of the premier evident from two press releases released in the morning from Downing Street, at a distance of 2 hours and 43 minutes from each other.
First press release, 9:02 am
The prime minister and the chancellor were contacted by the NHS Test and Trace as contacts of someone who tested positive for Covid, the first statement, released at 9:02, reads. They will participate in the pilot program with daily tampons which will allow them to continue working in Downing Street. During this period, they will conduct only essential government business.
Second press release, 11.45 am
The prime minister was contacted by the NHS Test and Trace because someone’s contact with Covid, written instead in the second statement, reached the members of the press at 11.45. He was in Checkers when he was contacted and will remain there in solitary confinement. Do not take part in the pilot program. I will continue to conduct meetings with ministers remotely. The Chancellor has also been contacted and will remain in solitary confinement as planned, without participating in the pilot program.
