Favoris, the RFCU and Mersch have not done anything in detail against Berbourg and Luxembourg City. On his side, Rosport still made Fola fall while Mondorf took the best on Strassen.
Berbourg – RFCU 0-4
The RFCU finds the way to victory in these round of 16 of the Luxembourg Cup. If in the league nothing is going well, the team from the capital is taking care of itself in the Cup and retains all hope of defending its title. Racing had to fight to overcome this team from Berbourg, who did their best to hold the draw. The merit goes to the goalkeeper who accumulated the parades, at least until the 38th and the header from Jérôme Simon which left him no chance. The hard part is over and Yannick Schauss’ goal a minute from halftime allows his side to manage this second period and score two more goals by Muratovic and Schauss who was on all the goals.

Luxembourg City – Mersch: 0-6
Reunion day, at Cents, for FC Luxembourg City and Mersch. Three days after their confrontation in the league which saw the two teams leave with a score of parity (1-1), it was the Luxembourg Cup which brought together, this time, the two teams of Promotion d’Honneur for a place in the quarter-finals. For the Marisca players, it only took 30 minutes to take the measure of their opponent thanks to Agovic, with a strike from 20 meters (0-1, 10th), Bresch (0-2, 13th) and Rodrigues (0 -3, 27e) to the finish in the surface. The hardest part was done for Mikhail Zaritski’s men who nevertheless left with their feet to the floor on their return from the locker room: Gonzales’ direct corner ended up in the back (0-4, 55th), then Rodrigues offered himself a double by showing himself the most quick to take back a ball repelled by Dos Santos (0-5, 56th). Crnovrsanin in stoppage time further complicated the addition (0-6, 90th + 2). Bresch’s missed penalty was therefore only anecdotal (71st). Mersch qualifies hands down for the quarter-finals.

Rosport – Fola: 2-0
After facing each other in the league four days ago, Forkel made three changes while Bensi changed three quarters of his team with nine changes for this Luxembourg Cup round of 16. The Eschois press very high and are above all much more aggressive on the ball carrier, dominating a majority of this first half, being very dangerous in the 45th minute by Diallo, but Bürger watches. Rosport is much more dangerous in the second half with Steinbach (54e) and Spruds from the lead (68e). A header saved on the line by an opposing defender. While Forkel brings in his two star attackers, Bensi responds with the rise of Bruno Correia. However, it is the Rosporters who dominate the debates in this second period as proven by this free kick from Brandenburger repelled by Da Costa: another golden opportunity for Rosport (85e). The Fola defender will have to catch Van Lingen at fault in the 89e minute of play, for Steinbach to score the first goal of the match. He will be imitated after additional time by Brandenburger who registers the second. Two achievements in six minutes, which allow Marques’ teammates to qualify for the quarter-finals of the Cup.

Mondorf – Strassen: 2-1
Despite a header from Babit in the third minute, which marked the first hot chance of the game, this duel between two elite players turned out to be rather sluggish. Opposite, the premises very rarely put the danger on the opposing cage. Manu Correia’s men finally wake up in the second half. Abdelkadous, well launched by Fernandes, subtly wraps his shot and deceives the vigilance of the Strassen goalkeeper (1-0.52e). The USM striker doubled the lead only two minutes later (2-0, 54e). Blaise Baillet may well reduce the score at the end of the game (2-1, 84e), it is the locals who qualify for the quarter-finals!
