The organizers of the riot in correctional colony No. 1 in Vladikavkaz were two prisoners. As reported in the press service of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia, it all started after the employees of the colony tried to conduct planned searches in the punishment cell.

– In correctional colony no., Where persons who have been repeatedly convicted of committing grave and especially grave crimes are serving their sentences, planned search activities were carried out, during which two convicts of a negative orientation held in the punishment cell refused to obey the lawful demands of the employees, the department noted.

After that, the indicated prisoners called on others to organize riots, referring to the lawlessness on the part of the colony employees. Other convicts, according to the Federal Penitentiary Service, succumbed to the provocation and staged a pogrom. They broke equipment and fences, and also smashed video cameras.

Now the OMON and Rosgvardia forces have been drawn to the territory of the colony, and the Commissioner for Human Rights in North Ossetia has also arrived at the scene.

As previously reported, a riot broke out on the territory of IK-1 in Vladikavkaz on the evening of October 15. According to various sources, from 200 to 600 prisoners took part in it.
