The RN on the defensive after the release of the book targeting David Rachline and the town hall of Fréjus

This time, he promised, he will do it: the mayor (National Rally, RN) of Fréjus (Var), David Rachline, says he wants to file a complaint for public defamation against the author of the book Raptors (Les Arènes, 224 pages, 20 euros) revealing the underside of his management of the city. Camille Vigogne Le Coat, journalist at The Obsdetails in particular a system of understanding leading, according to her, to corruption, involving the elected official and an influential local businessman, an excessive and particularly partying lifestyle, and an uninhibited racism reigning within the municipal administration.

In a first investigation, published in January in L’Express, the journalist was already talking about the cash that slips everywhere, the public markets rigged for the benefit of a single man, the Nazi salutes of the mayor. At the time, a complaint was announced: nothing came of it. The mayor preferred to send his troops to raid all the numbers of L’Express in the city. The investigation received little attention.

Ten months later, David Rachline no longer really has a choice. The press widely covered the release of this investigation on what was the municipal showcase of the RN from 2014. “The lawyers are finalizing the complainthe assures World. David Rachline, also vice-president of the far-right party, describes the book as “a collection of defamatory remarks, slanderous gossip and false accusations coming from local opponents or rejected former collaborators”. He denies all the facts attributed to him. The courts have, for the moment, not been informed of potential crimes in its management of the city.

Rachline becomes radioactive

At the National Rally, everyone read the good pages of the book, published in The Obs on November 2. The content particularly annoyed Marine Le Pen. Jean-Marie Le Pen, David Rachline’s political idol, purchased the book. No one publicly lets go of the mayor of Fréjus. The party does not intend to launch any investigation into the practices denounced, especially since David Rachline was presented, until 2022, as the ” best friend “ of the current president of the RN, Jordan Bardella.

The two men had a little good time together in the summer of 2023. Despite the suspicions about Mr. Rachline’s management already publicly displayed, the president of the RN group in the National Assembly, Marine Le Pen, got on board with them on a sailboat in the Gulf of Saint-Tropez (Var), at the end of June, according to the story of Camille Vigogne Le Coat.
