Interview Between the Editor of Time.news and Mr. Akhannouch, Leader of the RNI Party
Editor (E): Welcome, Mr. Akhannouch. Thank you for joining us today. Your recent address highlighted the government’s achievements and future goals. Can you explain what you mean by “a united majority demonstrating maturity”?
Mr. Akhannouch (A): Thank you for having me. What I meant by a united majority is the ability of our coalition to set aside differences and work collaboratively for the greater good of the nation. It’s essential in a multi-party system to show maturity and responsibility, ensuring our decisions align with the supreme interest of Morocco.
E: That’s a fascinating perspective. You mentioned the need for responsible and integrated management. Can you elaborate on the specific steps your government is taking to encourage investment and achieve economic prosperity?
A: Certainly. Our efforts include implementing structural reforms that simplify the investment process. We’re working on creating a favorable business environment—reducing bureaucratic hurdles, enhancing infrastructure, and promoting sectors such as renewable energy and agribusiness, which are vital for economic growth.
E: Alongside economic initiatives, you addressed social challenges, particularly water shortages and youth unemployment. What strategies do you believe will be most effective in tackling these issues?
A: The current water crisis is indeed pressing. We are advancing several projects, such as the water highway connecting the Sebou and Bouregreg basins. This will significantly enhance the drinking water supply for the Rabat-Casablanca corridor. As for youth unemployment, we are committed to fostering a more dynamic job market by encouraging entrepreneurship and enhancing vocational training programs to better align skills with market demands.
E: It sounds like you have a comprehensive approach. You also mentioned recent reforms in housing and healthcare. How does the government ensure these reforms remain effective and impactful for everyday Moroccans?
A: Monitoring and evaluation are critical. We have established frameworks to assess the progress of these reforms continuously. Engaging with communities and soliciting their feedback is vital to understand the real-world impact of our policies and make adjustments as necessary. Our aim is to build a ‘social state’ where every Moroccan feels the benefits of these reforms.
E: With the education sector facing various challenges, how do you plan to sustain the momentum for reform, especially after the hurdles faced at the beginning of the school year?
A: The education reform is a top priority. Despite the difficulties, we have made significant strides, including the implementation of crucial regulatory frameworks. Our strategy involves continuous dialogue with educators, parents, and students to address their concerns and ensure that the reforms are practical and sustainable. We aim for a system that not only imparts knowledge but also prepares our youth for future challenges.
E: Looking ahead, what do you see as the most significant upcoming challenges your government will have to face, and how do you plan to confront them?
A: One of the most significant challenges will be managing ongoing socio-economic pressures, particularly as we recover from the impacts of recent global events. We must remain proactive in our reform efforts and ensure social cohesion. Our vision is to maintain a dialogue among all stakeholders to tackle these issues collectively, particularly focusing on economic recovery, social equity, and environmental sustainability.
E: Thank you, Mr. Akhannouch, for sharing your insights. Your commitment to these pressing issues is admirable, and we look forward to seeing how your government continues to navigate these challenges.
A: Thank you for the opportunity to discuss these vital topics. I remain optimistic about Morocco’s future and the resilience of our people.
