In a press release released at the end of the afternoon, Sunday August 27, when the Irish group The Murder Capital was playing, the organizers of Rock en Seine announced that the 20th anniversary edition of the Ile-de-France festival had welcomed 144,000 people. at the Domaine national de Saint-Cloud (Hauts-de-Seine), during the four days of the musical event, from Wednesday 23 to Sunday 27 August (with a break on Thursday 24). A little below the 150,000 visitors in 2022.

Three days were sold out for a daily capacity of 40,000 festival-goers. But, on Friday the 25th, only 24,000 people walked the Clodoaldian lawn – “which is bound to be a disappointment”, had told us, a little earlier, Matthieu Ducos, director of the festival. This is held equally by Combat, the group that brings together the media and cultural interests of businessman Matthieu Pigasse (individual shareholder of the Monde), and AEG Presents France, one of the companies of the American giant of organization of musical, sports and entertainment events AEG.

Matthieu Ducos also indicated that the four-day formula should “to become the standard for future editions”either with offbeat artists, “like, this year, Wednesday for Billie Eilish, then the weekend”, i.e. four consecutive days. Friday, the ripple effect of the headliners, Boygenius, Fever Ray and especially Placebo for the big night concert, did not fully play.

Twelve formations performed on a fifth stage, that of the tracking device for the Ile-de-France region.

On Saturday, after having sailed from one place to another to follow all or part of the concerts of a little more than half of the program, we will retain from this edition the funky and disco pop of the Parisians of L’Impératrice, the solid rock, sometimes in a blues anchor, with a touch of psyche, from the English The Amazons and the solo parts of guitarist Chris Alderton. And also the dark universe of their compatriots Dry Cleaning and their singer, Florence Shaw, whose linear, almost monotonous flow exerts a spell on the listener. Also from England, the Coach Party quartet, two girls (Jessica Eastwood, vocals and bass, Stephanie Norris, vocals and guitar) and two boys (Joe Perry, guitar, Guy Page, drums) whose direct rock has pop twists, a communicative desire that the concert be a moment of entertainment, of pleasure.
