The Romanian Parliament approved the composition and program of the country’s new government, headed by Social Democrat Marcel Ciolaku.
As Day.Az reports with reference to TASS, the Agerpres agency reported this.
240 parliamentarians voted for the approval of the new cabinet, 143 voted against. The minimum number of votes required to approve the program and composition of the new Romanian government is 233. The sovereignist opposition voted against Ciolaku’s cabinet – parliamentarians from the Alliance for the Unification of Romanians, SOS Romania, the Party young people, as well as the Union for the Salvation of Romania.
The cabinet was formed by the so-called pro-European coalition of the parliamentary majority consisting of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), the National Liberal Party (NLP), the Democratic Union of Hungarians in Romania (DUH) and the parliamentary faction of national minorities.
“The main goal of this cabinet is the rapid organization of presidential elections, in complete security and transparency. Romanians must elect a president in a normal environment, and not in a hybrid reality built outside the country by the enemies of Romania,” Ciolaku said, speaking in parliament. The prime minister-designate said his cabinet would be a “government of reform and investment,” promising to cut government spending, support entrepreneurs and increase investment in the social sector.
