The Rova of Antananarivo, which houses the Queen’s Palace in Manjakamiadana, could soon be accessible to the general public. Two of the restored palaces, Manjakamiadana and Besakana have already been inaugurated since November 2020, 25 years after its fire, but this national cultural heritage has never been opened to visitors so far. Concordant sources affirm that Andry Rajoelina intends to reopen the doors of Rova before the end of his mandate, that is to say this year.

Yesterday, during the inauguration ceremony of the Rainilaiarivony Museum, in Amboditsiry, the President of the Republic who attended the ceremony declared that the rehabilitation works of the palace of Manampisoa and those of Tranovola will be inaugurated soon. It could take place before the celebration of the national holiday, on June 26, according to certain indiscretions.

The authorities have remained cautious in their communication since the controversy generated by the construction of the famous coliseum called kianja Masoandro in the royal enclosure. The construction of this concrete amphitheater within the Rova has indeed threatened the listing of the upper town as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and has aroused strong indignation among historians and heritage specialists.

The Rova of Antananarivo renamed by Andry Rajoelina Rova of Madagasikara in 2020 will be set up as a museum and will house the elements of the history of Madagascar. The name of Rova Madagasikara is not unanimous, however, as is the coliseum.
