The Russian army said it had repelled new armed attacks from Ukraine in the border region of Belgorod, which has been the target of ground attacks by groups for several days. They define themselves as pro-Ukrainian Russians – opponents of Russian President Vladimir Putin.

“Attacks and attempts to penetrate the territory of the Russian Federation by Ukrainian subversive and intelligence groups were repelled” in the Belgorod region, which was also subject to airstrikes, the Russian Ministry of Defense said in a statement, BTA reports.

Belgorod Region Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov announced that shopping centers will remain closed tomorrow and Monday, and schools in Belgorod will not have classes on Monday and Tuesday due to the situation.

Due to the current situation, the regional authorities have decided to declare March 18 and 19 as non-school days for schools and colleges in Belgorod and eight districts in the region. Monday and Tuesday are days off, there will be no classes, including remote classes, Gladkov specified on his Telegram channel, quoted by TASS.

Earlier, the governor announced that two people were killed and three were injured in a Ukrainian missile attack on the city of Belgorod.
