Kyiv: Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Selensky has said that Russia’s forces were on the verge of capturing him and his family during the first days of the Russian occupation. He made the revelation in an interview with Time magazine. Selensky says such an attempt was made at a time when the occupation was very strong.
He said he and his wife, Olena Selenska, had to wake up their 17-year-old daughter and nine-year-old son and tell them that the bombing had started. After the military coup began, he realized that he was Russia’s target. The president’s official residence is not considered a safe haven. The Russian army arrived in Kiev with the help of a parachute. Such scenes are seen only in movies.
Selensky said in an interview that he had secured the area where his official residence was located after the Russian military’s move.
