The Russian crew of the ROSS station will have to fly through the arc of the aurora

Anatoly Petrukovich, Director of the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences, spoke about future research that Russian cosmonauts have to do on Tuesday at a meeting of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

In addition to automatic vehicles, after 2025 Russia plans to create and send into orbit a new national space station ROSS. It is assumed that for the first time in history it will be launched to high latitudes for a better overview of our country, as well as the study of the Arctic. It is unprecedented that people will fly over the Arctic in a space “home” for the first time. How they will feel in conditions of increased radiation, no one knows yet. “They will have to fly through the arc of the aurora,” Petrukovich said.
