“The Russian Embassy in Warsaw is ready for any decisions of Moscow after the seizure of the building of the Russian school by the Polish authorities,” he said. TASS Ambassador of Russia to Poland Sergey Andreev.

He also noted that the employees of the school at the Russian Embassy in Poland are now engaged in the removal of equipment from the building seized by the Polish authorities.

According to the ambassador, the educational process will resume on May 10 in one of the diplomatic buildings.

On the morning of Saturday, April 29, representatives of the Warsaw City Hall and the police arrived at the Russian school to conduct an inventory of the property. They ordered the staff to leave the school.

Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia Maria Zakharova called the actions of the Polish authorities a “seizure” of the school and called them a violation of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations. She declared that a “tough reaction” from Moscow would follow. Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia Dmitry Medvedev proposed to sever diplomatic relations with Poland.

According to the representative of the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the building was illegally rented by the Russian authorities. Back in March 2022, shortly after Russia’s large-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Polish Ministry of Foreign Affairs initiated the process of confiscating two Russian-owned properties in Warsaw that were not used for diplomatic or consular purposes. The conversation also included the building of the school at the embassy.
